He spoke with me on the phone for several minutes trying to help me figure out other options. Hunter "Patch" Adams was the only one who was kind enough to take the time out of his busy schedule to call me personally and HE apologized to ME for the problems I was having and that his facility was not yet open and available to help me. Over the past 8 years, I contacted hundreds of organizations for help so I could get better medical care as my resources dwindled into nothing, and not a single one of them could be bothered to even respond at all. Because of being misdiagnosed and having some symptoms ignored, I am now disabled. I was injured several years ago and had a lot of bad doctors who just made my problems worse because at the time of injury, I had no insurance. And they do so much with so little, and they have NO DEBT at all! I highly recommend giving to this organization. When you deal with Gesundheit! you are more than a donor or a client or a volunteer, you are a treasured friend. His office staff are all just as kind and sweet and joyful as he is. I sent the amount that I would have spent on the medicine to Gesundheit!. The suggestions in the book allowed me to discontinue some meds I had been taking. I then sent a gift-in-kind, and received another delightful postcard from Patch, along with a suggestion of a book I could read that would help me with a medical condition I had been experiencing. He personally wrote back quite a letter, thanking me for my donation, asking how I was doing and telling me he was on a plane to Belen Peru to help the people there.
I have a very low income, so the gift was quite small, but it was the best I could do.

In 2013, gesundheit hosted six global Community Stories 3 Stories from Volunteers, Donors & SupportersĪfter seeing the film, Patch Adams, I wrote to Dr. The goal of the international travel program is the improvement of health of individuals and communities in crisis from sickness, war, poverty and injustice. These clowning missions also include humanitarian aid, building projects, and community development around the world. The gesundheit global outreach program consists of international clowning missions to hospitals, orphanages, schools, psychiatric facilities, nursing homes, and special needs facilities. Patch adams, md, gives workshops, lectures, and theatrical presentations spreading the news about holistic lifestyles, community, the joy of caring, the joy of service, and the healing power of humor. In 2010, after a 3-year donation campaign for building funds, excavation began on the construction of a 25,000 square foot teaching center and clinic. The organization hosts events focused on education at this site in the form of medical student electives, summer institutes, health care system design intensives, and conferences. Programs: The west virginia facility embodies the philosophy of a free, home-style hospital (to be built) and health center intended as a model for caregivers and hospitals, and serves as a center for service learning, volunteerism, and community service.
